Barr Group Announces June Public Training Series
Four days of lecture and hands-on courses to emphasize software development processes that help keep bugs out of embedded systems.
GERMANTOWN, Md., April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Barr Group, The Embedded Systems Experts™, today announced a four day series of lecture and hands-on training courses for embedded systems developers. The series of three courses will be offered to the public from June 1st to 4th at the company's new state-of-the-art training facility in Germantown, Maryland.
The first course, entitled "Firmware Defect Prevention for Safety-Critical Devices", will be held on Monday, June 1st. "This popular course explains how certain lightweight software development processes can be used to keep bugs out of embedded software," said course instructor and Barr Group principal engineer Dan Smith. "Preventing as many defects as possible from getting into the implementation code is imperative for developers of safety-critical devices and mission-critical systems."
With demand for reliable embedded software on the rise across all industries, a course called "Test-Driven Development for Embedded C Programmers" was also announced. "TDD is a powerful technique for building reliable software and Barr Group is proud to partner with James Grenning—who literally 'wrote the book' on integrating TDD and embedded software development—to introduce this valuable technique to the embedded programming community," said Barr Group CTO Michael Barr. Starting on Tuesday, June 2nd, this hands-on two-day course will provide a solid foundation in TDD for firmware developers and their managers.
Rounding out the week will be a third course on Thursday, June 4th, entitled "An Agile Approach to Embedded Software Development". "Agile development is an adaptive and iterative software development process that helps teams manage delivery of complex software and systems," said James Grenning. "The Agile approach accepts that there are limits to a team's ability to perfectly plan with up-front design and allows teams that admit this to be more productive." Grenning, who is one of the original authors of the Agile Manifesto and founder of Wingman Software, is partnering with Barr Group to teach the course. "Agile development is designed to help a team manage delivery of a system, through iterative and incremental development. The Agile approach accepts that there are limits to our ability to plan out a complex product and then just execute the plan."
Registration is now open for these and other upcoming Barr Group public courses. Pricing and other details are available at http://www.barrgroup.com/training-calendar.
