Basketball Fans Score Big Thanks To Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville, Sun Belt Conference Partnership
Hotel in New Orleans celebrates upcoming championship tournament by donating tickets to The First Tee of Greater New Orleans, plans prize giveaway during the March 11-15 games
NEW ORLEANS, March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Combining the love of giving with the love of the game, Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville's latest philanthropy effort will help make dreams come true for young basketball fans.
As an official hotel of the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, the downtown New Orleans Courtyard has donated tickets to The First Tee of Greater New Orleans, allowing elementary school students to attend the men's and women's basketball championship games on March 11-15, 2015.
"Our Courtyard customer loves sports, and we are excited to offer local students access to one of New Orleans' most powerful sporting events," said Tim Johnson, manager of marketing and e-commerce at Marriott International. "We look forward to expanding our partnership with The First Tee and Sun Belt Conference organization."
It was through the Sun Belt Conference affiliation that the Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville learned of The First Tee of Greater New Orleans. Impacting the lives of young people through educational programs, the independent, non-profit organization under the umbrella of the World Golf Foundation offers youth ages 5 through 18 out-of-school programs that instill life-enhancing values and build character while promoting healthy choices through the game of golf.
"We're extremely excited to build a long-term partnership with such an iconic hospitality brand partner like Courtyard by Marriott," said Chip Patterson, executive director of The First Tee of Greater New Orleans. "To provide this opportunity for our participants to attend the Sun Belt Championship is fantastic, and the kids couldn't be more excited."
Lakefront Arena, about 7 miles from the downtown New Orleans hotel near the French Quarter, will play host to the two coinciding championship tournaments. The winners of the men's and women's tournaments will receive an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
In addition to giving children the chance to see talented college athletes take the court, the hotel near the French Quarter will challenge all fans in the stands with trivia questions during the championship games. Basketball lovers will be directed to the answer the questions via Twitter using the hashtags #SunBeltTourney and #CourtyardTrivia for a chance to win a two-night stay in deluxe accommodations and a $25 food and beverage credit at Vieux Carre Café, the New Orleans hotel's casual restaurant offering fine breakfast pastries, sandwiches, cocktails, beer and wine.
