Baylor University Hosts Dale P. Jones Business Ethics Forum on Reputations, Rights and Responsibilities in Marketing

WACO, Texas, Nov. 5, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 2010 Dale P. Jones Business Ethics Forum will take place in Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business Nov. 3-12. This year's theme, "Marketing: Reputations, Rights, Responsibilities," aims to help participants explore ethical issues related to leadership and marketing practices affecting personal and corporate reputations, rights and responsibilities.

The 5th Annual Business Ethics Case Competition will kick off the forum Nov. 3. The competition gives current Baylor Business students the chance to discuss and explore real-world ethical issues in an educational setting. The teams will present their recommendations for the case in a formal business presentation before judges on Nov. 5. The first place teams from each league will receive a $1,000 prize.

A screening of the PBS documentary "Doing Virtuous Business" will precede a panel discussion featuring Glenn Robinson, CEO of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, and Dina Dwyer-Owens, CEO of The Dwyer Group, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in Kayser Auditorium. The documentary explores how virtuous practices improve and strengthen critical relationships with customers, employees, vendors, the environment and the world at large.

An ethics luncheon for Baylor MBA students will be held Nov. 5 on the 5th Floor in Cashion Academic Center. The event is by invitation only.

MBA students from programs across the country will gather for the 4th Annual MBA National Case Competition in Ethical Leadership Nov. 10-12. Student teams from Auburn University, Baylor University, Pepperdine University, Texas A&M University, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, the University of Texas and the University of Washington will compete. Winners will be announced Nov. 12, prior to the ethics panel.

Bonnie Wurzbacher, Senior Vice President of Global Customer Leadership at The Coca-Cola Company, will speak about the importance of Christian leaders integrating faith into business on the 5th floor of the Cashion Academic Center Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The speech "Business in His Kingdom" is open to the public. Wurzbacher leads the global business of a $1.5 billion portfolio of retail customers, and she is responsible for accelerating the growth of the company's business with their largest global customers around the world. She also serves on the company's global advisory councils for customer and commercial leadership, women's leadership and corporate social responsibility.

For the 2010 Ben H. Williams Distinguished Speaker Series, Baylor welcomes Pete Blackshaw, Executive Vice President of Digital Strategic Services at Nielsen-McKinsey, in the 5th floor of the Cashion Academic Center at noon Nov. 12. The event is by invitation only. Blackshaw's speech, "Trust, Reputation & Credibility in the Social Age," will pull from his experience as a recognized expert in interactive marketing, word-of-mouth, and consumer understanding. Blackshaw is the author of Satisfied Customers Tell Three Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3000: Running a Business in Today's Consumer-Driven World. He writes a bi-weekly column in Advertising Age and co-founded the Word-of-Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA). He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the National Council of Better Business Bureau (BBB) and sits on the National Advertising Review Council.

The Forum will conclude with the panel discussion "Ethical Issues in New Media Marketing." The panel will include Pete Blackshaw from Nielsen-McKinsey, Mariea Hoy from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Spike Jones from Fleishman-Hillard International Communications and John Moore from The Brand Autopsy Marketing Practice.
