SARASOTA, Fla., Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Peak Season, the new crime novel from Jeff Widmer, is now available in audiobook format.
Set on Florida's Gulf Coast in the tony beach town of Spanish Point, Peak Season features former detective CW McCoy, a woman who, after her family is kidnapped, must decide which side of the law she's on. Kirkus Reviews calls the novel "an entertaining mystery romp. CW is a great character. Widmer has a great sense of place; he easily brings the town of Spanish Point and its colorful cast of characters to life."
The audiobook is narrated by Pamela Almand of The Captain's Voice and published by Allusion Books.
"Everyone said that writing from a woman's point of view would prove challenging," Widmer said, "so it feels like a victory to hear Pam bring the fellow risk-taker to life. CW may surrender her gun and badge but she will never surrender her spirit. Pam's rich tone and nuanced reading perfectly captures that spirit."
Fans of Janet Evanovich, Robert B. Parker and Chelsea Cain's One Kick should enjoy the work.
The audiobook is available through Audible, Amazon and iBooks. Peak Season is also available in trade paperback and e-book formats from online and traditional booksellers. For comp copies, reviewers can send their name and media affiliation to the email address on the author's website, jeffwidmer.com.
Widmer is the author of the forthcoming crime thriller Mr. Mayhem, available now for pre-order, as well as several works of nonfiction that include The Spirit of Swiftwater and Riding with the Blues, a behind-the-scenes look at the Sarasota (Florida) Police Department.
A former editor and marketing professional, he has contributed to publications such as National Geographic World, US Airways and Advertising Age. He lives in Pennsylvania and Florida. His blog about the writing life appears regularly at jeffwidmer.com.
