BOSTON, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Health Options (Beacon), the nation's premier behavioral health company, proudly honors the men and women of our armed forces on Veterans Day and every day. Beacon is taking Veterans Day as an opportunity to bring attention to the educational course Military Culture: Core Competencies for Healthcare Professionals. This free online course, developed by the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Department of Defense (DOD), is offered in four modules with two continuing education units (CEUs) for each module.
The Military Culture: Core Competencies for Healthcare Professionals course is offered by both the DOD's Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) and the Veterans Health Administration Employee Education System (VHA-EES). The CDP's mission is to train military and civilian behavioral health professionals. The VHA-EES supports the professional development needs of public health and health care providers, with a focus on Veteran patient care. The four learning modules of the course are:
- Module 1: Self-Assessment and Introduction to Military Ethos
- Module 2: Military Organization and Roles
- Module 3: Stressors and Resources
- Module 4: Treatment, Resources, and Tools
To take advantage of this free professional development opportunity and earn CEUs, participants must first create an account on the TRAIN system if they do not already have one. Once that is completed, they can begin with Module 1.
