BeautifulPeople.com Purchases Island and creates a Sovereign Country for Beautiful People Only
LOS ANGELES, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BeautifulPeople.com, the dating site for good looking people only, has purchased an Island and claimed it as their own exclusively beautiful sovereign Island nation.
The Island is located 201 miles off the coast of Mozambique. It lies in the Indian Ocean between Mozambique and Madagascar.
People Network ApS, a Danish entity representing BeautifulPeople.com, completed the Island purchase on January 3rd, 2015 at a cost of over 18 Million Euros. The Island, previously claimed by Mozambique, lies in disputed waters. The Island falls well outside the 12 mile territorial waters of Mozambique and Madagascar and just outside the 200 mile economic zone of both countries.
This is one of only a handful of Islands in the world in disputed territories that falls in international waters. BeautifulPeople.com, on completing the Island purchase with the Government of Mozambique, immediately claimed the Island as a separate and sovereign country staking their claim with the new national flag of 'Beautasia'.
The island nation is a paradise of white sand beaches surrounded by a protecting reef and turquoise waters but also benefits from 2 miles of arable land. The Island is a large 2.75 square miles, not including its vast coral reef systems.
The constitution of 'Beautasia' has been hurriedly written by the Directors of BeautifulPeople.com and a committee of 30 BeautifulPeople members from as many different countries. Beautasia is an 'Exclusive Democracy' with its founding principles based on its new constitution. The fledgling Island nation will have its own legal and judicial system and will hold its first general election in two months time to elect the Islands beautiful president from amongst the 11 BeautifulPeople members who are currently campaigning for the Presidency.
Currently the Island nation is being run by an interim government elected by the founding committee.
Development of the fully independent and soon to be self sustaining Island nation has been ongoing. Members of the dating site BeautifulPeople.com, after passing a review, are given automatic citizenship to the Island. Over 24,000 members of the dating site have already signed citizenship papers agreeing to a charter of the country's constitution, additionally, over 65,000 members of the Dating site have submitted their citizenship papers for review. The population of the Island citizens is 24,064 people. Currently only 32 people are living within the country's borders as they oversee the infrastructure and development of the country. There is a work force of over 120 people currently developing the Island for the citizens eager to migrate to their new country.
Greg Hodge MD of BeautifulPeople.com says: "Our citizens herald from every race, color, creed and religion with the proviso being that all our citizens are beautiful. We are no longer relegated to the digital world. BeautifulPeople.com has become a sovereign nation complete with our own constitution, legal system and governance."
Unlike the online dating site where membership is revoked if users lose their beautiful looks, Citizenship of Beautasia is given for life and will not be revoked; however as part of the charter and constitution, citizens of the Island agree and are encouraged by law and through various ordinances to work to maintain their beautiful appearances and age gracefully.
Greg Hodge continues: "We are not heartless. Our citizens will be investing along with us in our Island's development and future and they need assurances and provisions that their future will be protected even if their gorgeous appearance dims over time."
Beautasia's interim president Sal Vance says: "I look forward to engaging on the world stage with other heads of state to encourage meaningful protections for the beautiful people of the world and to stamp out
prejudice and discrimination against beautiful people in every corner of the globe."
