Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies Selects RC Inspection from Risk Control Technologies
Joining the list of insurers leveraging the industry-leading loss control tablet-enabled solution
TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Risk Control Technologies Inc., the industry-leading provider of loss control software solutions for insurers, today announced that The Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies has selected the RC Inspection software solution to streamline its loss control operations. The Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC) are a group of six regional insurance carriers that are part of the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group. BHHC offers workers compensation, commercial auto, commercial property and public entity insurance products for main street businesses and difficult to place risks.
Based on employee feedback, BHHC was seeking a technology solution to streamline data collection in the field using tablet devices, as well as automate manual processes surrounding the loss control function. Some of the key areas included survey assignment, route planning, report preparation, recommendation management and data mining.
"We identified a need to enhance the consistency of our loss control processes, while at the same time increasing efficiencies by automating our employees' manual processes," said Mark Barba, Senior Vice President of Underwriting for BHHC, he added "the Risk Control Technologies team not only presented us with a proven solution to help achieve our goals, they also bring a lot of industry expertise to the table."
As part of the rollout of RC Inspection, BHHC plans to outfit its field loss control representatives with tablets, which will be loaded with the RC Inspection field application for field data collection. This will allow the field reps to collect risk data, photos and recommendations in the field, even in locations without mobile broadband connections. Once data is collected in the field, it is then uploaded into a central database which allows underwriters to utilize the information in making underwriting decisions. This central data repository also offers data mining and reporting capabilities which have traditionally been unavailable in the paper-based loss control environment in which most insurers operate.
"We are pleased to welcome BHHC as a Risk Control Technologies client" said David Hanley of Risk Control Technologies, "loss control plays a major role in their business and we look forward to working with their team to streamline their loss control operation."
