SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan Craig, Partner at Bertram Capital, has been recognized by The M&A Advisor as a winner in its 4th Annual 40 Under 40 Recognition Awards. Ryan was honored at a black tie awards gala at the New York Athletic Club on October 1, 2013. The M&A Advisor's 40 Under 40 Award Program recognizes leading mergers and acquisitions, financing and turnaround professionals who have reached a significant level of success in the industry while still under the age of 40. The winners were selected by an independent committee comprised of business leaders from the mergers and acquisitions industry.
"Ryan Craig is an emerging leader who I believe will have a significant effect on the advancement of our industry," stated David Fergusson, President of The M&A Advisor. "We are honored to present Ryan with the 2013 40 Under 40 Award for his leadership as a dealmaker, overseeing all investments in the Consumer Sector for Bertram Capital. And equally important, we honor Ryan's civic contributions."
Ryan oversees Bertram Capital's investments in the Consumer and Healthcare sectors. Ryan was a founding member of the Bertram team in 2006 and was promoted to his current position of Partner in 2012. Ryan was actively involved in Bertram Capital's fundraising efforts and a key contributor in Bertram closing its second fund in 2010, when the firm successfully raised $500M in Limited Partner commitments.
"We are extremely proud of our partner, Ryan Craig, who has been recognized with The M&A Advisor's 2013 40 Under 40 Award," said Jeff Drazan, Managing Partner. "Ryan is one of the original team members I recruited to launch Bertram Capital. This award reflects the leadership and significant contributions Ryan has delivered to our firm over the past seven years."
Ryan currently leads Bertram's investments in One Distribution and Paula's Choice. One Distribution designs, markets, and distributes the fast growing Supra footwear and KR3W apparel brands. Ryan's work with One Distribution has directly resulted in the business more than doubling revenue in less than three years through innovative marketing and expanding the company's distribution channels. In November 2012, Ryan led Bertram Capital's investment in Paula's Choice, a skin care and cosmetics company offering proprietary products and extensive skin care research and reviews. Ryan leveraged Bertram Capital's proprietary High 5SM business building approach, focusing on Bertram's in-house IT services, in order to secure the investment mandate.
Prior to Bertram Capital, Ryan worked at Health Net, a publicly traded provider of managed healthcare services, where he evaluated strategic partnerships and led special projects. Ryan was also an early employee of BizBuyer, one of the first online purchasing exchanges for businesses. Ryan was a key member of the team that raised more than $60M of venture capital. Ryan began his career as a business analyst for Mitchell Madison Group, an international management consulting firm. Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University, where he was a starter and goalkeeper on the school's nationally ranked soccer team. He later returned to Stanford as a Sloan Fellow at the Graduate School of Business, where he was elected president of his class.
