Water and wastewater assets have been acquired by Aqua America's Virginia and Pennsylvania subsidiaries in two separate transactions. Aqua Pennsylvania has acquired both water and wastewater system assets of Total Environmental Solutions, Inc, (TESI) for $ 11.8 million, marking the company's expansion. "The Treasure Lake systems are a great addition to our Pennsylvania customer base," said Aqua America Chairman and CEO Nicholas DeBenedictis. "Their proximity to our existing operations will allow us to take advantage of economies of scale that will benefit our new Treasure Lake customers as well as our existing customers." The systems serve as much as 6000 people in the Treasure Lake Community of Sandy Township, Clearfield County. Aqua America's Virginia subsidiary purchased the British Woods Water Company in Botetourt County, Virginia. The system provides water to about 150 people directly across the street from Aqua Virginia's Appletree-Mountainview system, offering similar benefit to that of Treasure Lake to both new and existing customers.
