BetterThanDiamond Officially Begins Production and First Sales of Amora®, The Ultimate Gem®

SEATTLE, Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BetterThanDiamond, Inc., (BetterThanDiamond.com), The Leader in Colorless Lab-Grown Gems®, today announced that Amora Gem production officially started in July. The first customer sales took place starting from July 26^th to consumers around the world who are on the Amora Gem waiting list (which spans 104 countries). The new Amora lab grown crystal, while naturally occurring as stardust around large carbon rich stars, has never before been available as a lab grown gemstone for jewelry use on Earth.

The closest visual approximation for Amora is that of an exceptional, colorless mined diamond. However, Amora exceeds gem diamond by nearly every measure. Amora displays 10.05% more brilliance than diamond, is tougher than diamond, has a higher color grade than most diamonds, (true F color on the GIA diamond scale), and has more fire than diamond. An Amora has been on exhibit at the Hungarian Natural History Museum since 2011 in "The Oldest and The Newest crystals on the Planet" display, with Amora Gem being the newest gem crystal on planet Earth. Due to the exceptional difficulties involved in growth and production of the Amora Gem, an additional 2.5 years of R&D was required to bring Amora Gem from its museum debut into production capacity for the first consumer sales.

All Amoras are cut to Hearts and Arrows specifications that have been optimized for Amora Gem's exceptional brilliance. Fewer than 1% of natural gem diamonds are cut to H&A level of precision by comparison. Each Amora Gem ships with a full, independent diamond style grading report from an independent diamond grading lab.
