Beverly Hills Most Expensive Destination in California, Survey Shows
LOS ANGELES, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Beverly Hills has been named the most expensive destination in California. That's according to the latest survey from TravelMag.com, which compared the various destinations in the Golden State during the summer 2015 time period based on the cost of lodging.
Specifically, the survey established for each destination the amount an overnight guest will have to spend to stay in the most affordable double room. However, only hotels rated at least 3 stars and those located either near the city center or close to the beach were taken into consideration.
With an average price tag of $239 per night for the least expensive room over the prime summer months, Beverly Hills tops the rankings. The runners-up are just slightly less expensive: Palo Alto, located in the heart of Silicon Valley; and the beachfront town of Santa Monica, with average nightly rates of $235 and $234, respectively.
San Diego's coastal communities of Pacific Beach and Coronado follow in the fourth and fifth most expensive slots. Meanwhile, San Francisco ranks in the 17th position with an average rate of $146 per night.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in California based on the average rate for their cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) during the time period spanning June 1 through August 31, 2015.
