IRONWOOD, Mich., June 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Big Snow Sports Foundation was launched today to help create a year-round utopia in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula.
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is focused on saving community driven outdoor recreation, sport, and education opportunities for everyone and plans to invest in supporting healthy economies.
Don McLean, executive director of Big Snow Sports said, "By partnering with other communities, businesses, and organizations, we can be a positive catalyst for supporting outdoor recreation, sports and improved quality of life in the region."
The formation of this nonprofit will revitalize the area by investing in recreation, athletics, and education programs, creating inclusive opportunities for youth, outdoor enthusiasts, and competitive athletes from a region with a diverse population of over 60 million.
"The City of Ironwood is excited for the opportunity to partner with the Big Snow Sports Foundation to help enhance outdoor recreation opportunities in our region and build on the incredible assets of our community," said Tom Bergman community development director for the City of Ironwood.
Support for the projects will be through an endowment fund focused on building strong communities, providing growth, and achieving dreams. The nonprofit will concentrate on projects that enhance opportunities for healthy lifestyles, athletics, arts, and education to strengthen families and communities.
