Biggest Loser Contestants Accepting Applications for the Morelli 2011 Summer Teen Fitness Camp

SOUTH LYON, Mich., May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year, teens ages 13 to 17 will have a camp of their own where they can get fit and lose weight this summer – right here in Michigan.

Ron and Mike Morelli, the father and son team on The Biggest Loser – Season 7, along with Max Morelli (Ron's youngest son and Mike's brother), all struggled with obesity as teenagers and now since having lost the weight as adults, they have a passion to help others, especially children. For this reason, a 501c3 non-profit organization has been established in the Morellis' name to fight childhood obesity.

The Morelli Teen Fitness and Nutrition Day Camp, often called the "Morelli Kids Camp" is accepting applications for the seven week camp that will run June 27 through August 12, 2011 in South Lyon for ages 13 to 17 of all fitness levels. Providence Park Hospital in Novi, along with the South Lyon Recreation Authority, and Anytime Fitness of South Lyon are proud sponsors.

The day camp will be held weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the South Lyon High School facilities that include use of the swimming pool, track, kitchen and more. Anytime Fitness of South Lyon will again be providing the teens with special access to exercise equipment. Two meals, approved by the Morellis, will be cooked by the teens as a way of providing instruction on nutritious foods and cooking methods.

The teen applicants are required to have a physical, and once clearance to participate is received - participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis as space is limited.  The cost for the seven week camp, which includes meals, is $1500. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify.
