Bill's Bar & Burger takes new menu & beers outside with Bill's Garden
Creates one of Downtown's largest street-level outdoor dining spaces
PITTSBURGH, May 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bill's Bar & Burger announces the opening of its 55-seat Bill's Garden adjacent to its location at the Westin Hotel in the Liberty Center.
Bill's Garden is supported by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership as part of its Paris to Pittsburgh program to activate outdoor cafés and sidewalks in the Downtown area.
Bill's Garden is in the Liberty Center plaza facing Grant Street, Liberty Avenue and 11th Street. The Paris to Pittsburgh initiative, funded by the Colcom Foundation, helps create a more vibrant and attractive Downtown Pittsburgh. Bill's outdoor café, with its newly landscaped area, helps activate a very important part of Downtown, where guests, convention visitors and employees of surrounding businesses congregate.

Bill's Garden features Bill's award-winning cuisine and a vast selection of over 120 draught and bottled craft beers.
Along with the new garden comes a new chef and menu. Michael Vignola, a celebrated Champion of the Food Network's "Chopped", has been named the new Corporate Executive Chef for Bill's. He has revamped the menu for the launch of Bill's Garden, focusing on locally sourced items from hometown vendors including the burger blend from Curtze Meats, bacon from Country Manor Bacon, ice cream from Millie's Homemade Ice Cream, pickles from Pittsburgh Pickle Co., breads from Mediterra Bakehouse, and other products from Emerald Valley Artisans and Silver Star Meats.
"My intent with the new menu is to elevate the dining experience while remaining true to the all-American roots of Bill's," according to Chef Michael. Small bites include Kobe Beef Pigs in a Blanket, Cheddar Stuffed Pretzels, Black Truffle Popcorn, and Crispy Jalapeno Cheddar Bombs.
The menu continues with specialty burgers like "The Pittsburgher," a double patty burger with cole slaw and a fried egg on a giant pretzel bun from Mediterra. Bill's also offers a diverse and mouthwatering number of offerings beyond their burgers – including the 'Slow-Roasted 30oz Short Rib' for two for dinner and a buttermilk-Rice Krispies crusted 'Crispy Chicken Sandwich' for lunch, as well as an 'Heirloom Beet Salad' with whipped goat cheese, baby arugula, and crispy quinoa.
Chef Michael is also ramping up Bill's specialty shakes, creating over-the-top confectionary delights such as the Peanut Butter Bomb that you need to see to believe.
Bill's has also tapped Laura Luciano, a certified cicerone beer server expert, to curate a worldly beer list while showcasing local craft brews. Luciano was inspired by the innovative beer culture of Belgium, leading to a menu robust with different beer styles and profiles.
"Belgian brewers are experimenting with ingredients, aromas and flavor profiles, so now we are seeing a lot of diversity and unique offerings as a result," she said. "We've channeled that creativity while building our own beer menu – hand selecting everything with purpose.
