Bio-Oil Documentary Helps Raise Awareness For Burn Survivors And Their Families

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Oil, the No.1 selling scar and stretch mark product, has launched a documentary featuring four courageous burn survivors discussing their personal stories and how they persevered against all odds. The documentary was released on October 4^th at the start of Fire Prevention Week and will generate a $1 dollar donation to The Phoenix Society, the leading national nonprofit organization for burn survivors, for every share of the video online.

Every year, more than 486,000 people receive medical treatment for a burn injury. The physical recovery aspects can take months or years and may involve numerous reconstructive surgeries and therapies, but the emotional and psychological challenges can run deep. The documentary follows four burn survivors across the country.  Each survivor tells of how their accident affected their lives and their remarkable recovery both physically and mentally. Burn survivor, Duane S. Wright from Sacramento, California met his wife while they were both volunteering at Shriners Children's Hospital with pediatric burn victims. "I met my wife Bernadette at a burn recovery support group at UC Davis Medical Hospital in September of 1997. Bernadette was a social worker on the burn team at Shriners Hospital for Children in Sacramento and was visiting the adult burn recovery support group because she was planning on starting a burn recovery group for children and families at Shriners." After volunteering for several years, Duane began dating Bernadette. His story proves how important care and compassion from the community is to burn survivors.

During the month of October, consumers are being urged to share this documentary video in the hopes of increasing awareness and providing support to other burn survivors. For each share of the video, $1 will be donated to the Phoenix Society for burn survivors (up to $25,000). All funds raised will be presented to the Phoenix Society during the World Burn Congress which begins on October 21^st – 24^th. The Phoenix World Burn Congress is an annual, international conference that brings together over 1,000 burn survivors, their families, caregivers, burn care professionals, and firefighters.
