BioPhotas, Inc. and the Semper Fi Fund Work Together to Provide Pain Relief to Injured Service Members
Veteran Nonprofit Provides the Celluma to Ease Pain for Injured Service Members
TUSTIN, Calif., March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BioPhotas, Inc., an FDA registered medical device manufacturer selling light energy products that use patented photo-therapeutic technologies to treat skin, muscle and joint conditions, today announced that it has partnered with the Semper Fi Fund to provide BioPhotas' flagship product, the Celluma, to service members in need of pain management solutions.
Commenting on the alliance, Patrick Johnson reported, "The first Marine who used the Celluma at the Warrior Hope and Care Center had suffered multiple musculoskeletal injuries in the rollover of an armored vehicle in Iraq and a subsequent IED attack in Afghanistan. He suffered from debilitating pain and was finally transferred to Camp Pendleton for treatment. While not receiving any relief from conventional therapies, within days of starting treatment with the Celluma, he was out of pain and off pain medications for the first time in four years. To quote the Marine '. . . the Celluma changed my life . . . . it actually gave me my life back.' It is testimonials like this that remind us why we started BioPhotas and created the Celluma in the first place."
Whether serving in combat operations or in training, military members may incur a wound, injury, or illness that can have a long-term impact on their lives and ability to continue their careers. Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. Millions suffer from acute or chronic pain every year and the effects of pain exact a tremendous cost on our country in health care costs, rehabilitation and lost worker productivity, as well as the emotional and financial burden it places on patients and their families.
"As our wounded, ill and injured service members navigate their recoveries, the Semper Fi Fund continues to evolve and find new ways to meet those needs," said Karen Guenther, CEO and President, Semper Fi Fund. "We are proud to be able to provide the Celluma to help these service members manage their pain and help improve the quality of their lives."
BioPhotas initially donated a Celluma to the Warrior Hope and Care Center at Camp Pendleton in California to treat injured Marines suffering from pain management issues. Based on initial favorable results, the Semper Fi Fund is now making large purchases of the Celluma for provision to service members wounded or injured in combat since 9/11. Interested service members and their families should contact the Semper Fi Fund directly.
