BioSurplus Forms New Division for Auction Services Names Veteran Biotech Marketing Exec Fred Hill to New VP of Auction Services Post
SAN DIEGO, Calif., July 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BioSurplus announced today the formation of a new division called BioSurplus Auction Services. The company has already held the industry's most successful lab equipment auctions in California: in San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area. With the new division, BioSurplus will now expand its auction services capability nationwide.
The announcement comes on the heels of very successful lab equipment liquidation auctions for Elan Pharmaceuticals, of South San Francisco, ACADIA Pharmaceuticals of San Diego, Roche, and others.
The company is currently holding an auction of Thermo Fisher equipment. This auction ends on July 25th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. PDT. A video overview of available items can be viewed here. A liquidation auction of items from The Neurosciences Institute in San Diego will begin on August 9th, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. PDT.
As part of this outreach, the company will hold its first auction outside California in Boston. The Boston auction starts August 15th, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. EST. To view the auction items, please go to http://auctions.biosurplus.com.
Spearheading the auction business growth will be veteran biotech marketing executive Fred Hill. Formerly VP of Product Marketing at BioSurplus, his new title will be VP of Auction Services at the company. Fred counts on over 20 years of sales, marketing and business development experience in the biotech industry. He received his BS and masters degrees in chemistry from the University of California at San Diego and an MBA from SDSU.
"It takes a complete understanding of a huge variety of instruments to be successful in auctioning lab equipment – from what they are worth, to who still uses them. Fred has a unique understanding of the breadth of equipment from his six years leading our sales and product marketing," says Jackie Townsend, CMO for BioSurplus. "Our clients have all had experience with other auction houses and they tell us we outperform them all. It is time to take this capability outside of California."
