Black Restaurant Group Announces Fundraising Initiative to Raise $200,000 to Support Juvenile Diabetes
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Black Restaurant Group:
WHO: Chef/Owners of Black Restaurant Group, Barbara and Jeff Black have teamed up with Children's National Medical Center and Dr. Fran Cogen, MD to raise money for children who suffer from diabetes as their son Simon has juvenile diabetes. Supportive event partners include Republic National Distributing with Amstel Light and Four Vines Wines.
WHAT: Black Restaurant Group has announced a fundraising initiative at all four of their popular neighborhood restaurants, Black Market Bistro, BlackSalt, Black's Bar & Kitchen, and Addie's. A series of special fundraising events has been planned as well as other promotions such as happy hour offerings, drink and wine specials and featured menu items. All Black Restaurant Group restaurants will be donating 100% of the proceeds from their signature mussel dish, Addie's Mussels to the cause.
WHY: Black Restaurant Group has set a goal to raise $200,000 to build a new state of the art kitchen that is part of a $5 million expansion at Children's National Medical Center to support children with diabetes.

Sunday, October 24th, 2010 – Black Market Bistro
Pig Out for Diabetes
1 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Tickets: $45 before Event, $50 at the door.
Kids under 12 are $20, under five eat free.
Black Market Bistro will be hosting a Bar-B-Que Rib Competition outside along with a silent auction, art show and children's events. Two live bands- Blue Book Value and 2nd Story Band will be performing. They will also be grilling burgers, hot dogs, BBQ pork, as well as providing side dishes and desserts. Beer and wine will also be available. Judging takes place at 3 PM.

Saturday, November 6th, 2010 – BlackSalt Fish Market & Restaurant
Oyster Tasting at BlackSalt
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Tickets: $55 per person in Advance, $65 per person at the door.
BlackSalt will be hosting an Oyster Tasting with varieties of three different species of oysters paired with wine. Oyster farmers and wine representatives will also be in attendance to discuss their products.

Four Vines Wine Dinner at Black's

Black's Bar & Kitchen and Republic National Distributing will be offering a nine-course Chesapeake themed dinner with wine pairings from Four Vines, an acclaimed winery in Paso Robles, CA. Four Vines has been consistently applauded by "Wine Spectator" and their Biker, Paso Robles Zinfandel, 2007 was named one of the "Top 100 Wines of 2009." 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Tickets: $50 before Event, $60 at the door.
Kids under 12 are $20, under 5 free
The Chefs at Addie's will be preparing oysters four ways-roasted, fried, shucked, and barbequed, as well as BBQ chicken, chili, roast suckling pig, hot dogs and other seasonal food. Activities will include: an oyster shucking competition, bobbing for apples, face painting for kids, a Moon Bounce and a raffle. Live music, beer and wine will be available. Rain or Shine.
