Blackboard Wins CODiE Award for Best Course Management Solution
Blackboard Learn Platform Judged Best for K-12 Community
WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Blackboard Inc. (Nasdaq: BBBB) earned one of the software industry's top honors this week when its online learning platform was named Best Course Management Solution in the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) 2010 CODiE™ Awards.
The award recognizes Blackboard Learn™, the leading online teaching and learning platform, as the top course management solution for preK-12 educators. The CODiE Awards have celebrated the best in education software, information and content since 1986, and hold the distinction of being the industry's only peer-reviewed awards program.
In April, Blackboard launched the newest version of Blackboard Learn with Release 9.1. The release integrates lesson planning and standards alignment and reporting capabilities to make the platform more instructionally focused to better support K-12 schools and districts. The release also offers a range of social learning tools and an intuitive Web 2.0 user experience to create a more engaging and visually impactful course experience, and to promote active collaboration both inside the classroom and beyond it.
"Now in its 25th year, the CODiE Awards continue to recognize those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries," said SIIA President Ken Wasch. "In addition, its winners are a prolific testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to businesses and consumers. SIIA warmly congratulates all of the winners and nominees of the CODiE Awards, whose innovation is essential for continuing America's leadership in the global knowledge economy."
Nominated products underwent an intensive review by subject matter experts, analysts, journalists and others with deep expertise in education technology. SIIA, the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, selected 36 winners from 188 CODiE Award finalists. Finalists were drawn from over 785 nominations from 374 companies.
"We're gratified to earn this important recognition from our industry peers," said Jessie Woolley-Wilson, President of Blackboard K-12. "As a company we've made a significant commitment to delivering solutions that engage K-12 teachers and learners in 21st century learning environments, making learning more impactful. We share this honor with the teachers and administrators we're working with every day to drive student success, many of whom have played a significant role in driving the development strategy for our software."
