ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Bloomberg Tax's Transfer Pricing Report, Mike McDonald has been awarded with its lifetime achievement award. The award was presented at a reception in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 29, which celebrated the publication, a must-read authority on federal and international tax policies regarding intercompany transfer pricing.
McDonald was recognized for his significant contributions to the transfer pricing profession in his role as a financial economist from 2001 to 2017 in the Department of Treasury's Office of Tax Analysis. In that position, he recently represented the United States at the OECD's Working Party 6, where he served as the chair on the Taxation of Multinational Enterprises. In his capacity as a U.S. delegate to the OECD working party, he was a key author of the 2016 final report that rewrote the OECD's transfer pricing guidance on intangibles. McDonald also served as a member of the United Nations subcommittee that drafted the U.N. Practical Manual on Transfer Pricing for Developing Countries.
"The Transfer Pricing Report has been one of the most important resources for transfer pricing practitioners since its inception," said McDonald. "The reporting and analyses in the Transfer Pricing Report have always captured both the details and nuances of transfer pricing, and just as importantly how transfer pricing fits into the bigger picture of international taxation and treaty relations. To have such an esteemed institution as Bloomberg Tax recognize me is truly an honor."
Since leaving the U.S. Treasury Department in September, McDonald has returned to Ernst & Young where he serves as Executive Director of Transfer Pricing Services. In his current role, he advises clients on matters related to base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) and other transfer pricing issues, such as cost sharing, country-by-country reporting and tax controversy resolution.
"Mike McDonald has played an integral role in shaping the future of transfer pricing over much of the quarter century that we have covered its developments and we're very pleased to recognize his contributions," said Lisa Fitzpatrick, Vice President and General Manager, Bloomberg Tax. "Having experts like Mike contribute practical insights is why professionals rely on Bloomberg Tax's Transfer Pricing Report to keep abreast of the most recent transfer pricing developments in U.S. courts, at the IRS, in Congress, and around the world."
