Bloomington, Minn. Money Manager Cornerstone Named Top Large Cap Manager for 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesota-based Cornerstone Capital Management, Inc. (Cornerstone) has been named one of the top money managers in the country.

The financial publication Emerging Manager Monthly this month awarded Cornerstone with its Large Cap Manager of the Year award, one of seven awards the magazine annually bestows to top U.S. money managers.

In naming Cornerstone, Emerging Manager Monthly editor Matthew McCue said the award was "very much a reflection of Cornerstone's hard work."

To be named Large Cap Manager of the Year, Cornerstone demonstrated superior performance, lower standard deviation, and faster asset growth relative to peers on larger stock companies.

Cornerstone increased its assets under management to $1.36 billion in 2009, up from $482 million in 2008 and they showed the highest scores in their class, McCue said. That played a key factor in choosing Cornerstone, he said.

"They outperformed their benchmark and ranked really well," McCue said. "That's definitely something to hang their hat on."

Cornerstone was one of among nearly 500 money management firms considered for the fourth annual awards. Companies are considered emerging managers if they manage less than $2 billion in assets.

The awards are sponsored by Emerging Manager Monthly and eVestment Alliance. Winners were selected by an independent panel of industry leaders, consultants, and investment staff.
