Blu Homes kicks off Modernism Week on February 16, at 2:30pm with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at the stunning Joshua Tree home of Tim Disney, which was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times. All proceeds from this reception will support A+D Architecture and Design Museum>Los Angeles and its upcoming exhibition Never Built: Los Angeles, a rare compendium of visionary works by legends such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry that only saw the drawing board.
As the sun sets behind Tim Disney's Blu Origin home and the stunning desert landscape, the afternoon of the 16th will conclude with a discussion featuring Never Built curators Sam Lubell and Greg Goldin moderated by Karl Daubmann, Blu Homes' vice president of design and creative director. Shuttle service will be provided between 2:15-5:00pm from The Sportsman's Club, 6225 Sunburst Avenue, Joshua Tree, CA 92252. Ticket price is $50 in advance, $60 at the door. Blu will be giving away one pair of tickets to the event; enter to win on Blu's Facebook page the week of February 4-8. Learn more and purchase tickets here.
There are three more chances to tour Tim Disney's Joshua Tree home at Modernism Week on February 17, 23 and 24, 12pm-4pm. The Disneys' three-bedroom home with separate guesthouse set against the starkly beautiful backdrop of the Mojave Desert is a unique configuration drawn from Blu Homes' most versatile design, the Blu Origin. The home features 14+ foot ceilings, luxury finishes, and wide expanses of windows and generous shaded decks to allow a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Like all Blu homes, it was built with the highest green standards in Blu Homes' Bay Area factory, transported by truck, and then unfolded on the site. Shuttle service will be provided from The Sportsman's Club, 6225 Sunburst Avenue, Joshua Tree, CA 92252. Tours are free. To RSVP go to http://www.bluhomes.com/modernism.
On Tuesday, February 19 from 6-8pm, Blu Homes' CEO Bill Haney and Vice President of Design and Creative Director Karl Daubmann will join Dwell Editor-in-Chief Amanda Dameron at The Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres and a discussion of "The Amazing Prefab Evolution." In the first hour, the three industry thought leaders will delve into prefab—past, present and future—exploring its rich history and highlighting the great homes that have defined the movement as well as the extraordinary breakthroughs in architecture and technology that are making advances today. The discussion will be followed by a design seminar with Bill and Karl in which they will present more detailed information on the stunning architectural design and revolutionary technology that have propelled Blu Homes to a leadership position in the industry.
Those interested in Blu will also have the opportunity to meet with the Blu team in the Modern Living Expo Tent in Booth #1 the weekend of February 15-18 and February 22-24 from 10am-5pm.
