Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Recognized for Excellent Service to Federal Employees

EAGAN, Minn., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota today announced that it has received a 2011 "Best of Blue" Award in recognition of outstanding service to federal employees, retirees, and their families.

The annual award, presented by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, distinguishes those "Blue" plans that deliver outstanding service and efficiency for overall operational and financial performance within the Association's Federal Employee Program, or FEP.

With roughly 4.6 million members, the FEP is the largest privately underwritten health insurance contract in the world. Approximately 61 percent of all federal employees and retirees who receive their health care benefits through the government's Federal Employee Health Benefits Program are members of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's FEP. These members then receive their services through local Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.
