Blyth, Inc. Increases Fiscal Year 2012 Outlook Due to Strong Sales and Profit Growth at ViSalus Sciences
GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Blyth, Inc. (NYSE: BTH), a leading multi-channel designer and marketer of home fragrance and home decor, as well as health and wellness products, today commented on its outlook for fiscal year 2012. Earnings Per Share are expected to be $2.23 to $2.43 and include a loss of approximately $0.80 per share for discontinued operations arising from the sale of Midwest-CBK and the exit of Boca Java, as well as $0.27 per share for charges related to the ViSalus equity incentive plan. This compares to prior fiscal year 2012 earnings per share guidance of $2.10 to $2.30. The loss from discontinued operations is higher than previous guidance of $0.70 due to an adjustment for taxes and other costs.
Normalized earnings per share from Continuing Operations, excluding the ViSalus equity incentive plan charge, are expected to be in the range of $3.30 to $3.50 for fiscal year 2012 versus prior guidance of $2.80 to $3.00. Management has raised the current year outlook as a result of significant sales and distributor growth at ViSalus, a network marketing company that sells weight management products, nutritional supplements and energy drinks to consumers in the United States one-on-one by independent distributors.
Management also updated its expectations for cash flow from operations to approximately $45 million versus prior guidance of $40 million. Capital spending is unchanged at approximately $8 million for fiscal year 2012.
