Bosma Enterprises and Novia CareClinics partner to open The Woodland Center
New onsite clinic will also serve Indy Fruit/Piazza Produce and Harrison College in an effort to provide convenient primary care services and control rising healthcare costs
INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As a proactive step toward enhancing their employees' health and wellness, Bosma Enterprises has launched an onsite health and wellness center in collaboration with Novia CareClinics (merging with QuadMed in 2014), and benefits consultant, First Merchants Insurance Group. The clinic will provide convenient primary care services to Bosma employees, of which, 60 percent are blind or visually impaired, and will help control rising healthcare costs. Two other companies, Indy Fruit/Piazza Produce and Harrison College, have also partnered to provide access to the clinic for their employees.
Bosma Enterprises is in a unique position to offer this benefit, which provides extraordinary care and convenience, to their employees and families. For people who must rely on alternate means of transportation because they cannot drive, which is the case for people who are blind or visually impaired, a simple trip to the doctor can take an entire day. Bosma Enterprises decided that convenient access to primary care and wellness services for its employees was a priority. That led to the decision to create The Woodland Center, and Novia CareClinics (QuadMed) was a perfect partnership to make this possible.
"We felt it was very important to provide greater access to health and wellness services for our employees and their families," said Lou Moneymaker, president and CEO of Bosma Enterprises. "Our vision is that there is greater equality for people who are blind. Sometimes it only takes slight modifications to bring that vision into reality. And as the state's largest employer of people with vision loss, offering an onsite clinic is one way we could make a difference in the lives of all of our employees."
The clinic is structured to serve the employees and dependents of Bosma Enterprises, Indy Fruit/Piazza Produce and Harrison College. The Woodland Center operated by Novia CareClinics (QuadMed) is located in northwest Indianapolis in the Park 100 area.
Staffed by Novia CareClinics' (QuadMed's) medical professionals, the Woodland Center provides acute and primary medical care, (with an added emphasis on wellness and prevention) generic medications and lab services, all at no cost to patients. As an employer-sponsored clinic, the cost of medical services is paid by the employers to enable healthy lifestyles and empower employees to work with their healthcare team to reduce health risks and lower healthcare costs over the long term.
As part of Novia CareClinics' (QuadMed's) innovative approach to healthcare, The Woodland Center provides 20 and 40 minute appointments with a provider to help build relationships that lead to improved care. This model is supported by convenient location, online appointment scheduling, health coaching, a 24-hour nurse hotline, health risk assessments and electronic medical records.
"Since 2001, the cost of medical benefits has increased more than 75 percent, making it increasingly difficult to fit medical benefits within affordable compensation packages for employees," said Gary Raikes of Novia CareClinics (QuadMed). "Onsite clinics offer a broad range of services with no deductibles and no copays for the employees. Furthermore, it allows these forward-thinking employers to take a proactive approach to making health and wellness a part of their cultural fabric. It is a tremendous step in the right direction in reducing overall health costs. "
