BP Biofuels Says the Technology Works, Rejects "Pixie Dust" Headlines
WASHINGTON, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the third episode of Biofuel STAT, released today, BP Biofuels North America President Sue Ellerbusch rejects recent headlines describing the industry as "pixie dust" by declaring "the technology works."
"There are lots of stories because it makes good media to talk about that it's pixie dust or fairies out there and people have been working on this for ten years and are we going to have it," Ellerbusch says. "I am here to tell you we do."
Biofuel STAT, an online series by the Advanced Biofuels Association – ABFA, gives viewers a unique perspective on the state of America's domestic biofuels industry from its challenges, to its success and its future. The series features first hand accounts from the C-Suite of the nation's top advanced biofuels companies as their top executives answer three identical questions in each episode.
In the latest episode at http://www.advancedbiofuelsassociation.com, Ellerbusch gives a candid account from her vantage point heading up BP's North American biofuels business.
"When there's uncertainty in policy… that creates problems for us," Ellerbusch says. "I look at RFS (Renewable Fuel Standard) as the single most important policy for us in this industry right now."
ABFA President Michael McAdams noted, "Lawmakers and opinion leaders in Washington now have laptop access to real world answers that could help fuel America's next revolution in renewable energy."
"Washington now has a real opportunity to invest in clean energy fuels, smarter investments based on performance, not a lifetime of subsidized handouts from Washington," McAdams added. "This opportunity can strengthen America's energy security while creating jobs here at home, today."
ABFA: The Advanced Biofuels Association (ABFA) is a national organization representing the new generation of advanced and renewable technologies that will help drive America's new economy by creating jobs, reducing our dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels while fueling a sustainable future for the world. The ABFA has quickly become a leading voice for America's domestic biofuels industry since it was established in 2009.
Based in Washington, D.C., the ABFA engages the federal government at all levels to secure a level playing field for its 40 member companies by encouraging public policies that are consistent, technology neutral, utilize sustainable feedstocks and offer subsidy parity. http://www.advancedbiofuelsassociation.com/
