Bright Horizons Named to FORTUNE Magazine's 2013 List of "100 Best Companies to Work For" in America
WATERTOWN, Mass., Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bright Horizons Family Solutions®, the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education, and work/life solutions, today announced that it has been named for the 14th time as one of FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For."
"We are so proud that, once again, FORTUNE has recognized the unique culture that Bright Horizons employees embody every day. The work that we do to support families and clients wouldn't be possible without a team of professionals dedicated to our mission and to making a lasting difference in the lives of families," said Bright Horizons Chief Executive Officer David Lissy. "Our success is measured in large part by our ability to help our clients also achieve the distinction of being a great place to work, and it brings us great pride to be joined by so many of them on the list. We feel very fortunate to partner with clients who share our passion to support employees as they work to achieve both professional and personal fulfillment."
"This honor belongs to each member of our Bright Horizons family. Our employees, particularly our teachers and educators, exemplify the measures of quality and commitment that are paramount to success in our field," said Bright Horizons President and Chief Operating Officer Mary Ann Tocio. "We are so grateful for the work they do to support working families but also for the ways that they support one another and come together as a team with a common mission."
Each year, two-thirds of the total score for the FORTUNE "100 Best Companies to Work For" list comes from responses to a random employee survey, measuring such things as employee attitudes toward management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie within the organization. The remaining one-third of the score is based on an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, benefits and compensation programs, and culture. Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities, benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy, celebrations).
This year FORTUNE highlighted a moment from the biennial Bright Horizons Leadership Conference when Lissy surprised attendees by awarding two-week paid sabbaticals to 25 managers who have performed at a consistently high level for 20 or more years of service.
