Taking top honors is Enova, a global financial service provider headquartered in the Loop. A newcomer to the list, Enova currently employs more than 950 employees globally, with the majority working out of Chicago. They earned top scores for their challenging work environment, trust in their employees, and flexible policies, along with enthusiasm for Gen Y employees.
Timothy Ho, President of Enova International Inc., points to Gen Y's innovative nature. He says, "I've found Gen Y is confident in changing the status quo. They are able to look at problems, challenge assumptions and help us innovate. At Enova, we've created a culture where the best answer wins and Gen Y appreciates that."
Gen Y, which was defined as employees between 18 and 29 years old for these awards, is better thought of as a new perspective. The Gen Y perspective is purpose-driven, social and tech-savvy. Most importantly, Gen Y is looking for a job which challenges them to grow and an employer who trusts and respects them. Since 2009, Brill Street has been ranking the top employers for Gen Y emerging talent.
Chicago employers qualified for the award by employing at least 10 employees, with at least 10 percent of their workforce comprised of Gen Y. Companies were evaluated on professional development opportunities, benefits, environment, company reputation and culture, perks offered and the enthusiasm of company leadership and Gen Y employees.
"Gen Y is uniquely positioned to step in, step up and offer new capabilities for employers. With the Top 50, we recognize those companies that offer a place for Gen Y to thrive," says Kevin C. Carlson, Brill Street + Company CEO.
