LONDON, August 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
A blend of sustainable design and intricate hand craftsmanship, these unique pieces have been designed by BOTTLETOP in London. The creation of the designs has taken place with local artisans between London, Salvador, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Featuring thousands of hand painted, up-cycled metal tabs, collected especially from across the state of Bahia in the North East of Brazil and thousands of up-cycled Swarovski crystals from Europe, the hand application of which has happened over a six-month period.
The designs were photographed with Brazilian supermodel, VS Angel and BOTTLETOP brand ambassador Lais Ribeiro by Grayson Hoffman in NY.
Brazilian singer Ludmilla features in one of the most explosive moments of the Opening Ceremony wearing a white, couture body-con BOTTLETOP catsuit and a troop of 30 'Firesword' dancers wear full body metal BOTTLETOP designs inspired by vintage motor-cross protective armor.
A celebration of cross-cultural collaboration, the designs will be exhibited for one day at a high profile BOTTLETOP launch event in Rio alongside the F/W16 Collection on Tuesday 16 August.
The celebration will take place at the historic Bhering Chocolate Factory in Rio, and will feature live performances from leading Brazilian and European artists with a stunning audio-visual display.
BOTTLETOP began in 2002 through a design collaboration with the British luxury fashion house Mulberry. At the heart of the collaboration was a best selling handbag made from up-cycled bottle tops in Africa that was lined with Mulberry leather off cuts in Europe.
BOTTLETOP established an atelier in Salvador, Brazil, where it has developed custom production techniques and sustainably sourced signature materials using up-cycled metal and certified zero deforestation leather from the Amazon.
BOTTLETOP has launched design collaborations with Narciso Rodriguez in 2014 and DKNY in 2015 and was awarded the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) brandmark by Livia Firth.
Luminaries from the fashion world who wear the brand include Jessica Alba, Donna Karan, Claire Danes, Anna Wintour, Behati Prinsloo, Gigi Hadid, Livia Firth and Candice Swanepoel.
The sale of BOTTLETOP designs fund the operation of the BOTTLETOP FOUNDATION, which supports health education projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Brazil and the UK.
The BOTTLETOP Fashion Company was founded in 2012 by Cameron Saul and Oliver Wayman. The BOTTLETOP FOUNDATION was founded in 2002 by Cameron Saul and Roger Saul.
