- Expanding benefits with merchant rewards & store-issued cards - On June 08, 2015, Apple Inc., announced that by adding support for rewards programs and store-issued cards with iOS 9, its mobile payment and digital wallet service, Apple Pay™ is making everyday payments even better for the users. As per the release, the users simple need to add participating rewards and store-issued cards to Apply Pay and check-out with this wallet app in order to get the most out of their purchases. The Company informed that it launched Apple Pay, last year in October with 200,000 locations in the US, and in July 2015, the merchant acceptance of this service was expanded to UK. The release highlighted that Apple Pay will also accept cards from Discover Financial Services Inc., starting from this fall and with this addition, Apple Pay will accept credit and debit cards across all major card networks, issued by the most popular banks, representing 98% of all credit card purchase volume in the US.
- Retail stores bringing rewards program's to Apple Pay users - The technology major is also expanding this mobile-phone payment service to certain retail stores such as, Kohl's Department Stores and J.C. Penney Co., and warehouse club, BJ's Wholesale Club. Moreover, starting this fall more than 80 million active members of the country's largest drugstore loyalty program, Walgreens Balance Rewards program, will be able to use their rewards with Apple Pay, the Company informed while elaborating the benefits from the Apple Pay. Moreover, Kohl's Corp will begin rolling out Apple Pay to its 30 million Yes2You Reward program members. Furthermore, a number of other companies including, Coca-Cola, Dunkin' Donuts, Panera Bread and Wegmans Food Markets, will also be passing the benefits of the rewards programs to the Apple Pay users.
- Popular apps adding Apple Pay support - Apple added that many of the well-known apps continue to add Apple Pay support so that checkout can happen with a single touch. As per the release, new apps bringing Apple Pay to customers include Best Buy, Delta Air Lines' Fly Delta app, Dunkin' Donuts, Gilt, HauteLook, Kickstarter, Munchery, Nordstromrack.com and zulily.
