"Broadway Balances America" Invites You To 'Get To Know' The Cast And Creative Team Behind Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I
NEW YORK, Jan. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadway Across America's collaboration with the award-winning morning show "The Balancing Act®," on the Lifetime® Channel concludes Season Three of the six-part series "Broadway Balances America" with The Lincoln Center production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. This new episode debuts on Monday, January 16 at 7:30 am ET and will re-air on Monday, January 23 at 7:30 am ET.
In episode six, viewers will have the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at what it takes to take a production of this size out on the road. We meet Patrick Bevilacqua, wardrobe supervisor, as he highlights the standout pieces from the collection of 350 costumes that will be going on tour, as well as Michael Yeargan, the set designer, who talks about the opulence of this Lincoln Center production of THE KING AND I. Amber Milt, our Balancing Act® correspondent, will sit down with the cast as they discuss the roles women play in different societies and the positive changes that can happen when people open their minds and work together.
One of Rodgers & Hammerstein's finest works, THE KING AND I boasts a score which features such beloved classics as "Getting To Know You," "I Whistle a Happy Tune," "Hello Young Lovers," "Shall We Dance" and "Something Wonderful." Set in 1860's Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.
