Buckingham Exploration Inc. delivers update on its Dome property.
CANON CITY, CO, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ - Buckingham Exploration Inc. ("Buckingham") (OTCBB: BUKX) announced today that it had carried out mapping and exploration on its optioned Dome Property Mineral Claims in the Beaverdell Mining Camp, near Penticton, British Columbia (the "Property").
Dome Property
The Property is comprised of sixteen mineral claims covering approximately 360 hectares (890 acres), located four (4) kilometers southeast of Beaverdell, B.C. in the heart of the historic Beaverdell Mining Camp. The mineralization occurs in easterly or northeasterly shears in quartz diorites or granodiorites of the Nelson intrusives. The sulphides consist primarily of pyrite, galena and sphalerite with some silver sulphides in a gange of quartz and calcite. The mineralization of the shear zones is classified as mesothermal, and interpreted as directly related to the emplacement of the nearby quartz monzonites of the Cretaceous Valhalla intrusive suite. The Dome Project Mineral claims cover the historic workings of the Nepanee Prospect that was worked intermittently for gold and silver between 1904 to 1935. In more recent years, sulphide mineralization including galena and sphalerite has been located near the old workings.
The Property is easily accessible by a network of well maintained logging roads and has a major power line traversing the Project.
Buckingham's 2010 exploration program was designed to evaluate all of the mineralized shear zones that cross the Dome property in order to delineate favourable drill targets. The objective was to map as much of the property as possible at a scale of 1:2500 with GPS control. Areas of previous mapping were re-examined and tied-in to the GPS grid. All sixteen Dome mineral claims were mapped, but total coverage on all of the mineral claims was not completed before the winter snow. The most important historical workings (adits, shafts and pits) were tied-in to the current mapping grid, as were several old drill holes. Three dominant shear zones cutting through the Nelson granodiortie that project, on to the western side of the Dome property from neighbouring properties, were evaluated and a drill program for the ensuing year proposed.
A widespread sandstone unit within the Tertiary sediments that cover the eastern portion of the Dome property was identified. The sandstone is light tan to off-white. It is well indurated, very durable and slabs off with clean breaks 1 to 3 cm apart. The sandstone occurs on, or near, surface over an area of at least one square kilometer and will be examined for possible economic value.
