Business-to-Business (B2B) Small Business Marketers are Becoming More Effective at Content Marketing
Marketers at small companies (10-99 employees) are more likely than those working at larger companies to have a documented content strategy
CLEVELAND, Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A new study, B2B Small Business Content Marketing: 2014 Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends—North America, has been published by the Content Marketing Institute. The report, sponsored by New Rainmaker, shows that 45% of small business marketers say they are effective at content marketing, compared with just 34% who said they were effective last year.

The report also shows that small business marketers continue to invest in content marketing, with 60% saying they will invest more over the next 12 months than they did last year. In addition, 48% have a documented content strategy in place to guide their efforts.
"When we look at marketers across all sizes of B2B organizations, small business marketers are the most likely subset to have a documented content strategy," says Joe Pulizzi, founder of Content Marketing Institute and author of Epic Content Marketing. "In general, marketers who have a documented content strategy perform more effectively than those who do not, which helps explain why confidence is up among small business marketers."
Compared with last year, small business marketers are using more content marketing tactics, especially infographics and mobile content. They also are using social media platforms more frequently, especially Google+, SlideShare, Instagram, and YouTube.
B2B Small Business Content Marketing: 2014 Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends—North America reports on the findings of 406 small business (10-99 employees) marketers who replied to the fourth annual Content Marketing Survey conducted by Content Marketing Institute and MarketingProfs in July and August 2013.
