JONESBORO, Ark., Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Camfil Farr Air Pollution Control (APC) unveiled a unique art piece to representatives, distributors and employees gathered for an international sales meeting at the company's corporate headquarters here.  Called "The Remembering Tree", the 30-ft (9.14 m) tall steel sculpture has been designed and created by metal artist Kelly Stevens, a production welder at the Jonesboro plant.

Company president Lee Morgan told the group, "About a year ago, we challenged Kelly to create an artistic sculpture to put in front of our building. She came up with a design that represented Camfil Farr APC's global expansion and sustainability efforts, and named it 'The Remembering Tree' to commemorate the most unforgettable moments – both good and bad – in the lives of the APC family."

He explains: "Back in 2002, after being hit hard by 9/11, this factory almost closed. We downsized to just 34 people – but by focusing on the customer, we came back stronger than ever. Ten years later, we are a global company with more than 220 U.S. employees, and sales have increased tenfold. This piece of art represents the rebirth of the Air Pollution Control business of Camfil Farr and stands as a testament to our sustainability mission and future growth around the world."

The metal tree and globe on top, which features a floating logo made of 3/8 in. (10 mm) thick stainless steel, stands just over 30 ft. (9.14 m) tall.  The leaves on the tree incorporate numerous mementos of births, deaths and other events of significance to members of the APC family. The core is 8000 psi (500 bar), ½-inch (15 mm) thick wall, 22-in. (560 mm) diameter gas pipe.  The foundation is a 10 x 10 x 10 ft. (3 x 3 x 3 m) cube of concrete in the ground under a 6 ft. (2 m) diameter concrete pedestal.  The base plate is 1.5 in. (38 mm) thick plate.  Key suppliers who donated materials to the project were Appleton Lawn Care (landscaping and walk paths), Automation Outfitters (night lighting), JMS Russel Metals Corp. (steel), and Ramsons Inc. (concrete foundation), all of Jonesboro.
