CAPE PAC Pledges Continued Support for Jeff Flake in Arizona
CAPE PAC's Grassroots Efforts Helped Get-Out-the-Vote in Flake Victory
WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Coalition of Americans for Political Equality (CAPE PAC) congratulated U.S. Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) for his decisive victory in last night's Republican Senate primary in Arizona. Flake took nearly 70 percent of the vote, defeating real estate mogul Wil Cardon for the nomination to succeed retiring U.S. Senator Jon Kyl.
CAPE PAC's Chairman Jeff Loyd said: "We'd like to congratulate Congressman Flake on his victory and thank everyone in my home state of Arizona who got out the vote in yesterday's election. We will continue to support Jeff in his election bid to the U.S. Senate this November. Our nation needs strong leaders who represent us in Washington. We believe in Mr. Flake." Flake, now in his sixth term in Congress, will face Democrat Richard Carmona in the November 6, 2012 general election.
CAPE PAC helped launch a major Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) campaign that targeted Republican and Independent voters in support of Flake. Their efforts included tens of thousands of telephone calls to registered Independent and Republican voters in Arizona, focusing on the counties of Coconino, Gila, Maricopa, and Pima. They also purchased local TV advertisements within 100 spots focused on those key counties within Arizona.
CAPE PAC's online efforts included:
- Online support website for Flake at: http://www.gojeffflake.org/
- Search engine marketing
- Pushing the hashtag #VoteFlake via Twitter
- YouTube ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SUeRMrKpn8
- Driving voters to an online polling place locator on their Flake support site
