car2go Crosses Two Million Global Member Milestone

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- car2go announced today that the world's largest one-way carsharing service has crossed the two million global member milestone.
car2go N.A. is the largest flexible one-way carsharing service in North America with 800,000 members. The service also boasts more than 1.1 million members across Europe and 100,000 members in Chongqing since car2go launched its first Chinese location in April, 2016.
Every 1.5 seconds, a car2go member takes a trip in one of the service's 14,000 vehicles serving car2go members in nine countries on three continents.

According to an August, 2016 carsharing report1 by Frost & Sullivan, the global carsharing market is expected to grow from 7.9 million people in 2015 to over 36 million people by 2025.

Independent Research Confirms car2go, one-way carsharing takes cars off the road and reduces greenhouse gas emissions
Recent research highlighted the power one-carsharing has to improve quality of life in increasingly dense North American cities. In July, a research team from The University of California Berkeley released the findings of the first-ever impact study of one-way carsharing in North American cities. The study found that car2go removed up to 11 vehicles from urban roads in the five cities studied and helped to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The researchers estimated that in 2015 alone, car2go removed up to 28,000 personal vehicles from the streets of Calgary, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver and Washington, D.C.
