According to a 2011 Demographics Report from the U.S. Department of Defense, there are 3.6 million active duty personnel, of which 43.9 percent have children, and more than 37.4 percent of those children are under the age of 5 years old.
"Care.com has a long-standing relationship with military families and we want to thank them for their service once more," said Michael Marty, Vice President, Strategic Operations and military veteran. "Locating quality care is difficult for any family, but military families face a unique set of challenges like finding care during deployments or at a new duty station every few years. Care.com is proud to play a small part in easing the load for these amazing families who sacrifice so much."
In 2012, Care.com's celebration of Military Appreciation Month drew a tremendous response from active duty service members and their families, with more than 8,800 military families signing up to find care on the website. In addition to being able to search Care.com's extensive network of caregivers by ZIP code, service and pay rate, premium members also have access to content and tips to aid them in their search and in managing care. Also available are preliminary background checks, recorded references, use of monitored messaging systems and Care.com's Safety Center, which features an array of tools and resources to help families make informed decisions during the search and hiring process. Military families can redeem this offer through June 30th 2013 by visiting Care.com and registering.
