NEW YORK, March 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CaringKind (formerly known as the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter) and Healtheo360 today announced a partnership to provide a virtual support group to the more than 250,000 New York City residents affected by a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or a related dementia and their families. The partnership will build on Healtheo360's Virtual Social Therapy® program and digital media platform to help relieve caregiver stress, communicate resources and strategies and provide access to clinical trial enrollments.

Under the program, patients, caregivers and family members will have immediate access to Healtheo360's free portal and a series of affordable mobile subscription services designed to lighten the burden of caregiving for an individual with dementia and to provide information and access to multiple programs, services and resources.

"New York City's Alzheimer's community – including caregivers and people living with the disease – deserve easily accessible, high-quality information and support to supplement access to CaringKind's services," said Lou Ellen Barkan, President and CEO of CaringKind. "Healtheo360's real time digital media platform offers our families and clients simple and comfortable access to critical support services to make their lives easier."

"Patients and caregivers have higher expectations today about actively participating in the healthcare process.  This partnership enables a direct digital connection to one of the largest chronic disease populations in the United States and firmly drives us toward our goal of reaching 3,000,000 members and creating a platform that promotes sustainable membership," said Dave Duplay, Chief Executive Officer, Healtheo360.

Healtheo360 is positioned at the intersection of precision medicine and social media where patient and caregiver needs for timely, accurate information and support services is a major unmet need.  Particularly for older patient populations where interface with mobile devices such as iPhones can be intimidating, Healtheo360 applications are custom designed for quick and easy access to actionable information and community connectivity.

About Healtheo360:  Healtheo360 is a web portal for patients and caregivers seeking support and information about chronic health conditions.  This video-sharing online community is like a members-only "YouTube for Health" with many extra features. The videos enable users to share their stories face-to-face. Yet the focus is exclusively on chronic health conditions, and the proprietary technology that powers healtheo360 enables users to communicate within groups as well as through in-depth one-on-one conversations in a safe, firewall-protected environment.

Healtheo360 provides Virtual Social Therapy®, a set of online support services and original content that promotes real-time sharing of experiences and disease-specific knowledge. Healtheo360 delivers Virtual Social Therapy® via a wide range of devices, including computers, iPhones and tablets, making it easy for users to peruse the stories of others just like them for inspiration, motivation, and support.

The premise behind healtheo360 is that people who are diagnosed with a chronic condition want to hear from others just like them to better understand what their future might look like, how to deal with the many challenges they could face, and feel less alone.
