NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US announced today that Carol Sawdye will return to PwC and join its U.S. Leadership Team as Chief Financial Officer and Vice Chair. Sawdye began her career at PwC and spent 17 years there, including the last six as a partner. She joins PwC from the National Basketball Association (NBA), where she has served as the Executive Vice President and CFO for the past two years, overseeing the financial affairs of the league and its related entities, including managing the NBA's financial relationships with its 30 teams. Prior to that, she spent eight years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, initially as CFO and later also assuming responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer.

In her role as PwC's CFO, she will report to U.S. Chairman and Senior Partner, Bob Moritz, and will be responsible for PwC's financial projections and preparation of its financial statements and related budgeting activities. She will also oversee functional groups within finance, including partnership taxation, treasury, internal audit and real estate. Sawdye succeeds Mike Burwell, a Vice Chair, who has taken on the role of U.S. Transformation Leader and will continue as a member of PwC's U.S. Leadership Team.
"I'm thrilled to be rejoining PwC at such an exciting time for the firm and the profession," said Sawdye. "Over the past 10 years I've been proud to watch PwC grow into the leading professional services firm it is today, and I'm looking forward to returning as a member of its leadership team. Building a solid foundation at PwC helped position me for the incredibly rewarding opportunities I've had at both the NBA and Skadden."
"With her prior experience serving clients as a PwC partner and her leadership roles with Skadden and the NBA, Carol brings us the best of both worlds," said Bob Moritz. "She understands both our firm partnership culture and the challenges our clients and other stakeholders face in the complicated market conditions of today's world. We welcome the external perspective she will bring and the value that will create for our stakeholders and our firm."
Sawdye is a CPA, licensed to practice in NY. She received her B.S. in accounting from the University of Virginia and her MBA, with specialization in international business and corporate finance, from Columbia University. She and her husband reside in New York City
