SINGAPORE, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on Asia's strong interest in sustainability, Carrier, the world's leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is expanding its popular Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series to support building owners and designers in Southeast Asia who continue to reach for new heights in green building. Carrier is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (UTX).
More than 200 building professionals attended the two Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series events held in Singapore and Malaysia on Nov. 28 and 29. Carrier's Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series, which was launched in 2011, is designed to convene thought leaders in the green building movement to discuss what is happening around the globe today, as well as look ahead to green building trends for the future.
"Carrier understands the important balance between building technology today and the world we live in tomorrow. Malaysia and Singapore have an incredible opportunity to accelerate building efficiency and save energy," John Mandyck, chief sustainability officer, UTC Climate, Controls & Security. "It's not a question anymore if a major development will be green – it's only a discussion of how green."
Joining a slate of local green building experts from Southeast Asia, Valentine A. Lehr, senior partner, Lehr Consultants International, shared his thoughts on what it takes to embrace sustainable technology, and Mahesh Ramanujam, chief operating officer of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and president of the Green Building Certification Institute, presented a global perspective on energy efficiency, sustainability and green buildings at the events.
A pioneer in sustainability, Carrier offers a number of tools to help its customers worldwide develop energy efficient, smart buildings. In addition to being a founding member of the USGBC, Carrier is a founding member of the Argentina, China, India, Singapore and France Green Building Councils.
