DALLAS, Jan. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Patent litigators Mark C. Howland and Samuel E. Joyner have joined the Dallas-based law firm Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, LLP, marking an expansion of the firm's existing intellectual property practice.

Mr. Howland and Mr. Joyner join the firm's Dallas office as partners, bringing significant patent litigation expertise to Carrington Coleman's existing copyright/trademark licensing, protection, and management services. The firm also advises clients on data privacy and cybersecurity matters in its Dallas and Longview offices.

Mr. Howland was formerly a partner in the intellectual property practice at Jones Day, where he spent more than 15 years representing clients in patent and trade secret litigation in federal courts around the country and before the International Trade Commission on matters involving:

  • Microprocessor, memory, and network architectures

Sam Joyner

Mr. Joyner is a former name partner at the Dallas technology litigation boutique Ross Joyner PLLC, where he represented individual inventors and large corporations in a variety of cases heard in state and federal courts involving:

  • Trademark enforcement
  • Trade secret misappropriation
  • Unfair competition
