Casa Systems Prepares for 'Gigabit Everywhere' Customer Demand with New DOCSIS 3.1 Downstream Module

ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Casa Systems, a worldwide leader in next-generation cable edge technology, today announced its new DOCSIS® 3.1 compliant module for its carrier-class C100G and C40G Converged Cable Access Platforms (CCAP). Called the DS8x192, the new module enables cable operators to support the full spectrum in the downstream direction delivering speeds up to 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) comparable to 10G PON.

Casa Systems' C100G award winning CCAP solution combines DOCSIS 3.1 CMTS and an MPEG video Edge-QAM in a high density, high availability 13 RU platform. The C100G and line cards support the CableLabs DOCSIS 3.1 standard, and are backward compatible with DOCSIS 3.0, eliminating the need to replace or upgrade existing hardware. Additionally, the C100G's software defined architecture, industry-leading upstream density, and integrated video capabilities enable increased service groups on one chassis, at 30% lower OPEX.

Last year, Casa Systems launched its US16x8 module that supports DOCSIS 3.1 in the upstream direction. With the addition of the new DS8x192 downstream module, Casa Systems' CCAP now supports the entire 1.2GHz spectrum required by DOCSIS 3.1, including both the SC-QAM and OFDM channels.

Casa Systems expects the first DOCSIS 3.1 software release on the new DS8x192 module to be ready for customer lab testing in late Q3.
