Cavium to Present at Linley Tech Processor Conference 2013 Focus on Dual-Mode Small Cell Basestations, Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) in Telecom Networks
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the digital home, will present two papers with important implications for the growth of broadband wireless services enabled by dual-mode small cell base stations and the evolution of NFV architectures to streamline network operations and management. These two talks will be presented at the Linley Tech Processor Conference 2013 taking place October 16 – 17 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, California.
Raj Singh, general manager, Wireless Broadband Group, Cavium will present, "Dual Mode Small Cells for HetNets" on October 16 in Session One. This talk will cover how a combination of high-performance, low-power multicore processors with dynamically configurable L1 physical layers will enable the rapid development of dual-mode small cells that will provide enhanced network coverage and other benefits.
Kapoor Prasun, director of software engineering, Cavium, will present, "Building NFV-Enabled Systems Using Multicore SoCs" on October 17 in Session Nine. Creating SDN / NFV solutions requires virtualization capability in compute, networking and storage systems. Multicore SoCs have evolved to support standard Virtualization technologies (such as Virtualized Cores, IOMMU, and PCIe/SR-IOV based interfaces to HW acceleration engines) so that they combine the best of both compute and network processing.
