CBeebies Commissions New Series "Moon and Me" From Foundling Bird and Sutikki
From Andrew Davenport -- Creator of "Teletubbies" and "In the Night Garden" -- "Moon and Me" Will Premiere on CBeebies in Early 2018
Programme is the First Production from Davenport's Foundling Bird and Bento Box Entertainment's New Kids and Family Division, Sutikki
LONDON and LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kay Benbow, Controller CBeebies, has commissioned the original new pre-school series Moon and Me (50 x 22') from Andrew Davenport's Foundling Bird and Sutikki, the new kids and family division of Bento Box Entertainment.
Moon and Me is a magical, groundbreaking series for pre-school, created, written and produced by Andrew Davenport – the co-creator of Teletubbies and creator of In the Night Garden, two of the most innovative, popular, award-winning and successful global pre-school franchises in history. Moon and Me will begin airing on the BBC's pre-school channel CBeebies in early 2018.
Inspired by well-loved tales of toys that come to life when nobody is looking, Moon and Me is the comical story of a special friendship between two characters from completely different worlds.
Moon and Me combines the latest production methods with traditional storytelling, comedy and music to create a breathtaking, beautifully-constructed picture-book world. A treat for the eye, ear and mind of today's pre-school child, Moon and Me celebrates a young child's creative play away from screens.
Through the partnership with Foundling Bird announced last year, Sutikki is serving as the primary production, merchandising and non-UK distribution partner for the series. Pre-production has begun at multiple locations in the U.S. and in the UK, making it a truly international undertaking.
Andrew Davenport said: "I'm thrilled – over the moon – at this commission from CBeebies to create an innovative pre-school series that will honour the heritage of our previous work together. The time is right for a new approach to pre-school storytelling and - like In the Night Garden and Teletubbies, ten and twenty years ago respectively - Moon and Me will pioneer new production techniques to create the highest standard of quality programming for the CBeebies audience."
Kay Benbow, Controller CBeebies, said: "Moon and Me is a delightful new series with charming stories and innovative production techniques that will really resonate with our viewers and support their creative development."
"As Sutikki's first production, and Bento Box Entertainment's official entry into the kids' space, we set the bar extremely high by teaming with the best in the business," said Sutikki Partner, Irene Weibel. "We know the benefits of our collaborative relationship with Foundling Bird will be immeasurable and are honored that CBeebies has chosen to be a very important part of Andy's latest endeavor."

About Andrew Davenport
Andrew Davenport is a multi-award-winning English producer, writer and composer specialising in creating high-volume television and publishing series for young children. He co-created Teletubbies (first broadcast in the UK in 1997) and wrote all of its 365 episodes. Teletubbies was broadcast in 125 countries, translated into 45 languages, won 17 industry awards and achieved 'iconic' status as probably the most instantly recognisable British pre-school brand of contemporary times. Davenport also created the double-BAFTA-winning global success In the Night Garden (first broadcast in the UK in 2007), writing all of its 100 episodes, and composing its title theme and all incidental music. Teletubbies and In the Night Garden remain leading global pre-school brands - after twenty years and ten years respectively. Davenport's uniquely holistic approach creates high-end, high-volume, stand-out, evergreen brands that engage a specific, developmentally-defined audience.
Davenport truly 'authors' his programmes, creating the characters and worlds through drawings and models, writing every single episode and, in the case of In the Night Garden and Moon and Me, composing the music too.
