CD Rates Stagnant While Federal Reserve Decision Offers Near- And Long-Term Hope For Savers TheStreet and RateWatch Report Top National & Regional CD Rate Issuers

NEW YORK, Dec. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- RateWatch, a premier banking data and analytics service owned by TheStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ: TST) reported today that national averages for CD rates of all durations remained unchanged this week as the Federal Reserve has continued to keep the short-term federal funds rate at a range of zero to 0.25% since late 2008.

"The Fed decided last week to scale back its economic stimulus program. This decision means savers should look out for rising CD rates in the near and longer term," reported Joe Deaux, TheStreet's Economics Analyst. "Less stimulus means the central bank believes the U.S. economy finally is capable of growing without its assistance, and this means eventually rates must rise in the improving environment. For savers who have been hoping for more yield to park their cash, guess what, they may soon receive that wish."
