STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company, today announced the establishment of an annual scholarship program in partnership with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, a non-profit organization providing college scholarships and educational counseling to children of military families who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

In-line with the mission of the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, the new Cengage Learning annual scholarships will be available to children who have lost a parent to military combat, training or accidents. The Foundation will select several college-age students each year and present the recipients with funds to support their college success. Funds may then be applied towards any costs related to their education – including tuition, room and board, books, living expenses, supplies and fees.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to work with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation to support these deserving students," said Ron Dunn, Executive Chairman, Cengage Learning. "By supporting these scholarships each year, we hope to not only provide funds for education, but also to instill a sense of pride, stability and hope for these students and their families. Cengage Learning and the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation will work together to honor the lives of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country by helping to ensure successful academic futures for those they loved most."
"The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is profoundly grateful to Cengage Learning for their generosity and support," said David Kim, President and Co-Founder of CFPF. "Through this generous gift, Cengage Learning is providing not only important financial support to the families that CFPF serves, but also a wonderful message of caring to military children who have made a tremendous sacrifice for their country at a tender age. I am sure that our fallen heroes would be proud of Cengage's leadership in securing a bright future for the families they left behind."
To date, the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation has supported more than 250 students and granted $3.4 million in scholarships. The organization believes that a college education is the single most important gift that can be granted to these children, as a college education is the key to a successful future. The college experience helps to ensure job opportunities in an increasingly knowledge-based economy, and also introduces students to ideas and methods of learning that will serve them in all aspects of their lives.
