WASHINGTON, May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Census Bureau will offer a two-day embargo period next week for embargo subscribers to view the latest population estimates for all local governmental units, including incorporated places, minor civil divisions and consolidated cities.
The 2012 population estimates will be posted to the Census Bureau's embargo site at 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, May 21. The public release will be at 12:01 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 23.
Media availability with subject matter experts will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 1 p.m. for embargo subscribers. Call-in information will be posted on the embargo site Tuesday morning.
The embargoed information may not be published or posted online until the public release date and time. Furthermore, wire and distribution services are prohibited from distributing embargoed news releases and data files to subscribers before the public release date and time.
Note that the city and town estimates themselves will be available by 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 in American FactFinder — one of the Census Bureau's online data search tools.
