LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, Central Baptist Hospital has been named one of the nation's top performers on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. The hospital is being recognized for outstanding evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
Central Baptist is the only hospital in Lexington and one of only five hospitals in Kentucky recognized in all four categories. Overall, 620 hospitals throughout the country were recognized as top performers.
This achievement is based on performance data reported to The Joint Commission during the previous calendar year. As a top performing hospital, Central Baptist earned 95% or above on all performance targets.
"This is a prestigious honor for us because it recognizes what we value most – effective patient care," said William G. Sisson, president and CEO of Central Baptist Hospital. "We constantly want to see how we're measuring up to national standards and exceed them when possible because we owe that to our patients."
In addition to being included in The Joint Commission's "Improving America's Hospitals" annual report, Central Baptist Hospital is also recognized on The Joint Commission's website, www.jointcommission.org, and on The Joint Commission's Quality Check website, www.qualitycheck.org.
