Cercacor Introduces Ember Sport Premium
New Device Non-Invasively Measure Hemoglobin, Oxygen Content, Oxygen Saturation, Perfusion Index, Pleth Variability Index, Pulse Rate, and Respiration Rate In Approximately 30 Seconds
IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cercacor today introduced EmberTM Sport Premium to help endurance athletes and their trainers non-invasively measure hemoglobin, Oxygen Content, Oxygen Saturation, Perfusion Index, Pleth Variability Index, Pulse Rate, and Respiration Rate in approximately 30 seconds. Smaller than a smartphone, using only light, Ember enables users easy and immediate access to key data about their bodies to help monitor these parameters as part of a training regimen.
Hemoglobin carries oxygen to muscles. When hemoglobin and oxygen levels are lower than normal, the heart and lungs must work harder to compensate – thus diminishing performance. By determining and tracking hemoglobin and oxygen levels – as well as pulse rate, respiration rate, perfusion index and pleth variability index – athletes and their trainers can begin to understand how these measurements may change due to training intensity, hydration, recovery times, diet and elevation.
Ember provides a user with insights gained from first-of-day measurements; and can provide useful information during altitude training by monitoring hemoglobin for peaks, and how long hemoglobin remains elevated after returning from elevation. The additional parameters also provide new insights.
EMBER'S NEWEST PARAMETERS:
Perfusion Index – The ratio of the pulsing blood to the non-pulsing blood in the finger. Used to indicate the strength of blood flow to the fingers.
Respiration Rate (RRp) – The number of breaths one takes per minute and a key indicator for assessing an athlete's conditioning. Tracking and comparing respiration rate to oxygen saturation and pulse rate may help gather insights into how training is improving fitness.
Pleth Variability Index (PVI) – A measure of the variation in perfusion index over the respiratory cycle. This measurement may help indicate the body's hydration and/or breathing effort.
Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) – The percentage of hemoglobin molecules that are carrying oxygen. Higher oxygen saturation indicates that the hemoglobin molecules are carrying more oxygen.
Oxygen Content (OC) – The total amount of oxygen being carried in blood and a reflection of the blood's oxygen saturation and hemoglobin concentration. The higher the value, the more oxygen one is carrying in the blood and the more efficiently the body performs.
"Releasing our newest Ember model and the five additional measurement parameters is Cercacor's way of showing Ember's value as an evolving, expandable device," stated Joe Kiani, founder and CEO of Cercacor. "Expect to see more measurement parameters, new indexes and additional value from Ember in the near future."
HOW EMBER WORKS:
Users download the Ember app to their (Apple / iOS) smartphone or tablet, which then connects to the Ember device via Bluetooth. Athletes and trainers use the app to view, build a historic record, and segment and track their collective data. Users can instantly share their data with coaches, fellow athletes or friends by email, SMS and social media. Ember is available exclusively on Cercacor's website, www.cercacor.com.
