DENVER, March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- York Space Systems, an aerospace company specializing in complete space segment customer solutions and the manufacture of standardized spacecraft platforms, today announced that Charles Beames has been elected to the York Space Systems Board of Directors as Executive Chairman and also joins the team as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). A seasoned industry veteran, Beames joins the team from Vulcan Aerospace, where he led the development of its Stratolaunch satellite launch system and oversaw Vulcan's space investment portfolio as President.
"The only limits left to realizing the entrepreneurial dreams of tomorrow's space innovators are the cost of manufacturing constellation class satellites and the complex multi-disciplined engineering needed across segments and sectors. York Space Systems' unprecedented commitment to dramatic cost reduction through not only an innovative bus design but also the application of established manufacturing processes and business partnerships, allows real-time delivery of industrial grade spacecraft for the new generation of space operators," said Charles Beames, Executive Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer, York Space Systems. "I look forward to working with the York Space Systems leadership team to help drive continued growth and innovation within the company and among its enterprise partners throughout the entire space and technology sector."
In his role at York Space Systems, Beames will be the Chairman of the Board of Directors, leading the Board and its relationship with shareholders and financial institutions. As the Chief Strategy Officer, Beames will be the principal executive in charge of all corporate strategy for the spacecraft bus company; working to position the satellite manufacturer for domestic and international expansion.
Well known for his leadership in the Department of Defense, Beames brings to York an unconventional mix of experience and leadership in space and military systems, engineering, legislative affairs and business. Beames' expertise spans both the commercial and national security space industry as a former and current board member for several other space companies. Prior to working at Vulcan Aerospace, he was a member of the Senior Executive Service, holding several executive positions within the Department of Defense, his last as the Principal Director, Space & Intelligence Systems in the Pentagon, overseeing the execution of a $90B annual acquisition budget. Beames will operate from York's headquarters office in Denver, CO.
"We are honored to have Chuck join York during such an exciting time in our company's history. With Chuck's knowledge, experience, and expertise, I know we will continue to realize the limitless potential of responsive and economically viable solutions in space," said Dirk Wallinger, York Space Systems CEO. "Chuck possesses the impressive track record of success needed to lead our Board of Directors, guide York Space Systems strategy and growth, and position the company for success well into the future."
